Current students receive priority when places are allocated for the following school year. Siblings of current students also receive priority when applying, although priority does not guarantee that a place will be available.
Placement is normally based on age and previous education. If the student is coming from another education system, Admissions will help identify the appropriate year group.
Students joining from 18 months through to Year 3 are not required to speak English when they start. For Year 4 and above, we normally require an English-language assessment.
For Year 4 and above, we normally require an English-language assessment and a cognitive abilities assessment. The parents must pay for the assessments and will receive the assessment reports. The Senior Leadership Team may waive one or both assessments when sufficiently detailed and strong previous school records are available.
The formal application normally requires identification, recent school reports and information about the student’s English level, attendance, severe medical issues the school should be aware of, and any learning or additional support needs.
Yes. BST is a mainstream school, and we consider each student individually. We assess whether we have the staff, facilities and specialist resources needed to provide a suitable education and appropriate support. Some additional provision, such as hiring a dedicated Learning Support Assistant if the school deems it necessary, may need to be paid for by the family.
BST offers personalised teaching, appropriately challenging work, academic competitions, enrichment activities and early examination entry where appropriate.
Current tuition fees, additional costs, payment arrangements and family discounts are available on the School Fees page.
