The British School of Tenerife is proud to have a rich and diverse community, with more than thirty nationalities represented across our school. Our pupils learn to show respect, empathy and open‑mindedness, becoming confident members of the international, global world we live in.
Through our PSHEE lessons and daily interactions, children explore different cultures, traditions and beliefs, helping them understand and appreciate the diversity around them.
One of our most important celebrations is our Annual International Day. Pupils carry their own “passport” and travel to different “countries”, enjoying a wide range of music, performances and traditional foods.
Each year, this event grows even more special, especially thanks to the enthusiastic involvement of our families in the preparation and organisation.
Throughout the year, we also celebrate cultural events such as Chinese New Year and Diwali, and organise monthly cultural‑gastronomy events in our dining room so pupils can discover food traditions from around the world.
Each month, every year group takes part in a curricular workshop linked to one of the themes we are exploring, followed by a gastronomic tasting connected to that celebration — for example, Indian dishes for Diwali or German specialities for Oktoberfest.
The four British values are embedded throughout our PSHEE planning so that children experience them in practical, meaningful, real‑life situations across the school year.

As a British school in Spain, we proudly promote British culture and support our wider community throughout the year. We celebrate key British events such as World Book Week, British Science Week, Jeans for Genes, Harvest Festival, Dyslexia Awareness Day and Remembrance Day.
These celebrations help our students connect with British traditions while learning in an international environment.
We also teach our pupils the importance of helping others. Our school regularly collaborates with non‑profit organisations and contributes to the community through food and clothing donations, craft sales, competitions, non‑uniform days and school discos.
